About us

Poole Maritime Trust (PMT) was formally inaugurated in 1974 and its aim is to contribute towards the public understanding of all maritime matters concerning Poole and its environs. It organises regular maritime lectures and visits, as well as social events with excellent speakers, archaeological digs and subsea exploration with an underwater ROV (remotely operated underwater vehicle). It is a registered non-profit making charity and a consultative group with all things concerning Poole Harbour.

At our offices, we hold a comprehensive archive of photographs, films and books and ephemera relating to Poole’s extensive maritime history. For those of you who would really like to get involved, we have several groups of enthusiastic volunteers that carry out cataloguing, research, archaeology and filming.
